Narendra Modi Sworn in as Prime Minister of India ...!!!

 

 NEW DELHI—Narendra Modi, the son of a tea seller with political roots in India's Hindu nationalist movement, was sworn in as prime minister of the world's largest democracy, putting in place a leaner central government and promising Indians "a glorious future."

An outsider to the established New Delhi elite, Mr. Modi took the oath of office in a grand ceremony at the president's estate before an audience that included the leaders of neighboring countries, including Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

The 63-year-old politician is the first Indian prime minister born after independence. He channeled massive voter discontent with the state of India's economy and its government to lead his Bharatiya Janata Party to a landslide victory in national elections.

"Let us together dream of a strong, developed and inclusive India that actively engages with the global community," Mr. Modi said Monday evening.<< <<Read More>>
